3/21/2020 0 Comments Nora Roberts and John IrvingI am reading Dangerous by Nora Roberts. I don't particularly like reading romance. I write it well and It helps my writing when I read it. I find most of it corny but maybe I haven't found the right writer for my taste.
I usually read more than one book at a time. I am also reading The World According to Garp by John Irving.

5/1/2019 0 Comments The Last of the MohicansI have had this book, which a friend lent to me in December. I moved into my new apartment in January and with unpacking and getting situated I didn't really get a chance to get to it, plus I had other books that I was reading and..... I misplaced it. Well, I thought I misplaced it. I had it on my bookshelf the whole time but every time I looked for it, I couldn't find it. It blended itself in with some other books.
I really am enjoying it. The language is a little different but you can make your way through it. I like hearing about local towns that have remained the same like Lake George, I also love to learn about how primitive the travel was and the combat and fighting when you ran into altercations. I will keep you posted. 2/14/2019 0 Comments ....still readingI am still reading Tropic of Cancer. I don't care for it but I'm more than halfway through. I don't like to not finish a book so I'm hoping to finish it this weekend.
The next book will be The Last of the Mohicans. It's a book a friend let me read and I think it's a first edition so I want to get it back to him soon. Maybe I can get some reading in tonight since it is Valentines Day and I will not be doing anything. Happy Valentine's Day. 1/31/2019 0 Comments January 31st, 2019I found this picture of my friends and I at a book signing and party with author Jane Porter. I believe this was 2013, - Albany, NY.
1/30/2019 0 Comments Pushing ThroughI'm still reading the Tropic of Cancer. I know now why they were pulling it from bookshelves back in the day. It's vulgar. I don't like that it is and feel it's unnecessary to get your point across that way but I'm reading it anyway. It's not a great book so far. I am only 30% in so we'll see if it gets better.
I'm also reading a Neil Gaiman (Neverwhere) which is just OK. I'll finish it but I may not read anymore of his stuff. I read one other one and it too was just OK. I want to get back to The Stand by Stephen King. I started it a couple of years ago and got about 45% in but haven't read it since. I would like to finish it I think when I'm done with Neverwhere. 1/17/2019 0 Comments The Tropic of CancerI bought this book from Amazon because I've heard of it so many times and just recently read an article on the author, Henry Miller. I was researching some information on writing for an essay contest and one of his pieces came up. It also reminded me of hearing about this book in a show. I think it may have been Seinfeld. It was an episode where Jerry was visited by the Library Police for checking out this book and never returning it. It was hilarious. So, I thought I would give it a try.
I am reading another book online right now that is not a classic. It is a romance which I like to write but do not like to read. I'm getting through it but it's taking some time. It is Lost to the Night by Adele Clee. I think it is important to try other genres. I would imagine within a genre there could be some you like and some you don't. I started Uncle Tom's Cabin because it is a classic. I had never read it and from time to time there are references to classics here and there so it was one more classic to add to my list. I am a quarter of the way through it right now. I am not shocked by what I am reading but I am certainly disgusted. What African American's went through back then is horrible.
3/30/2016 0 Comments A Tale of Two CitiesI wanted to read some classics so I started this book and finished it. It was a little tough to get through. I liked the story itself but the language because of its time frame was a little difficult to understand sometimes. The next book is Uncle Tom's Cabin. So far it seems to be pretty good. Stay tuned.....
3/16/2015 0 Comments The Da Vinci Code - Dan BrownI'm working my way through this book. It's interesting but the story itself isn't gripping. I enjoy learning about history and being Roman Catholic, I don't particularly like that this book makes such accusations of things that are not true. When it comes to religion, I just feel that most people find it to be a private and sacred thing to them. Books that are fictional about religion can be a bit sensitive to some.
I recommend it for those who want a FICTIONAL book about Da Vinci and the catholic church. It's certainly creative. |
